* | Final project: Multipanel Figure
Note that this assignment is for those students who are enrolled in 469.
Objective(s)
You will need to assemble a single multi-panel figure that explores one or more concepts that are central to your group’s ML application.
What to represent is up to you and your groups. Questions to consider:
- What kind of figures will help for your presentation and writeups?
- What sort of information is fundamental to your specific application?
- Are there data or concepts that you are especially interested in conveying?
For this assignment:
- “Multi-panel” refers to a figure with more than two subfigures.
- You will need to upload to Github (in the
/assignments/final/469/directory) a single .PDF with your figure on one page and caption on another. The top-left of each panel should have a letter in a box.
Rubric
| Criterion | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Completeness | Missing most instructions; single panel or no figure. | Missing several instructions; only two panels. | Follows most instructions; more than two panels but missing minor elements (e.g., panel labels). | Follows all instructions with minor issues. | Fully follows all instructions; multiple well-labeled panels submitted as a single PDF with a detailed caption. |
| Coherency | Panels are unrelated and lack any unifying theme. | Panels are loosely connected but the relationship may be unclear. | Panels share a general theme. | Panels share a clear theme with a logical narrative. | Panels tell a cohesive, well-structured story with a clear unifying concept. |
| Clarity | Figures are difficult to interpret; poor labeling, resolution, or layout. | Figures are somewhat readable but have significant issues with axes, labels, or formatting. | Figures are reasonably clear but could benefit from better annotation or layout. | Figures are clear and well-formatted with minor room for improvement. | Figures are immediately understandable with clean formatting, clear labels, and effective use of color and layout. |
| Relevance | No apparent connection to the ML application. | Somewhat related to the ML application. | Related to the ML application but may not address any central concepts. | Clearly connected to the ML application and addresses one or more critical aspects of the work. | Directly tied to central concepts of the ML application and provides meaningful insight. |
